Flights: Selecting a Destination Hub with

The first step is to select a destination hub. This is where you start and end your trip.

I use Bangkok as a major hub in South-East Asia. Manila and Kuala Lumpur are great options as well.

I either Book one way tickets, or buy a round trip ticket from the US to Bangkok. I use Google Flights and Skyscanner as a baseline for prices. Then I go to the airline webpage to book it directly.

TIP:There are no direct flights from the US to major cities in SEA. You will have take a layover at some point. Korean Air is a good airline from traveling to Bangkok, it has a short layover in Seoul (ICN).

Flight Routes: Trip Planner with

I use Rome2Rio's trip planner to plan routes in South East Asia. They give me a list of flights and other various transportation methods.

I verify direct flights with FlightConnections. You want to make sure your ownward city has a direct flight to your next destination.

I then use AirAsia.com to book flights and other LCC (Low Cost Carrier) Airlines.

Tip: You can download the Airline's app to check-in online.

Flight Itinerary with TripIt: forward emails to plans@tripit.com

Once I booked all my flights, I then use Tripit to forward all my flight confirmations to plans@tripit.com

This will create an itinerary for my entire trip. I will use this for flights, accommodations, pre-booked transportation, and activities.

2.

Accommodation: Selecting a hotel with google.com/travel/hotels and booking with Agoda or Booking.com

STEP 1:

First thing I do is go on google.com/travel/hotels

and look for "Where to stay"

Here are some questions when I select my hotel:

is it a tourist area?
is it near transportation?
is it near nightlife area / bars?
is it near a street market?
is it walking distance to food?
is it in a resort area?

STEP 2:

After reviewing the hotel in google maps, I then proceed to book the hotel through

Agoda or Booking.com
(This is the same process with AirBnb or any hostel booking.)

STEP 3:

I then forward my hotel email reservations to plans@tripit.com

Tip: Location of a hotel, AirBnb, or hostel is one of the most important things when planning a trip. Your location will determine the overall experience. There are different areas that may cater to your travel style.
3.

Transportation: prebooking with 12go.asia and/or Klook

If you are on a schedule and want to prebook transportation from city to city. I would recommend 12go.asia

they provide bus, ferries, boats, taxis from and to your selected destination.

Use Klook to book a prebook private transportation pickup at the airport.

Tip: Location of a hotel, AirBnb, or hostel is one of the most important things when planning a trip. Your location will determine the overall experience. There are different areas that may cater to your travel style.
4.
